Babatunde Tejumola is on a mission to bring Nigerian dishes, tastes and culture to the mainstream in the UK.
His food journey started at a young age at his mum’s kitchen in Nigeria - after years spent watching, he was eventually trusted to help cook after attending cooking classes in school aged 12.
Tundes's passion for cooking continued after coming to the UK for University:
"I wanted to bring Nigerian food to my friends. I would host Nigerian-themed dinner parties, and get everyone to wear traditional Nigerian clothes and play Fela Kuti. I loved seeing my friends’ reactions to discovering the cuisine and enjoying the night."
This desire to extend the incredible Nigerian experience of food culture and music to more people gave birth to Suyaman in March 2019.
Suyaman encompasses all of Tunde's ventures across the world of food. This includes recipes that celebrate classic Nigerian dishes whilst bringing in the influence of Tunde's time in Europe; a pop up restaurant that delighted festival-goers in the UK last summer; and an original craft beer that carries Nigerian flavours.
