LittlePod’s founder Janet started the company back in 2011 to spread the word of pure vanilla – which is generally underused in modern cooking – and help the people whose livelihoods depend on growing it. LittlePod has grown a lot since then, but still follow the three clear aims that Janet started with:
1) To create products which promote exciting new ways of using vanilla in the kitchen
2) To inform people of the diverse applications of vanilla and describe the benefits of using the natural stuff over its artificial counterparts
3) To help communities which rely on vanilla cultivation and conserve the fragile ecosystems in which pure vanilla is grown.
The final of those three is crucial to LittlePod, who strive to ensure that everything their business touches, from pod picking to package recycling, is as sustainable, ethical and conscientious as possible. This is reflected in everything they do, from their choice of supplier to their packaging materials (such as aluminium and glass, which are widely recyclable).
Recently, LittlePod have teamed up with charitable organisation, Blue Ventures who have developed a wide range of projects from Marine Conservation to Women’s health & Education initiatives. 10% of all sales in the LittlePod go to the charity, which is currently involved in rolling out a pioneering Women’s health project in the Vanilla growing region of Madagascar
